From Scaffolding To Insulation: Purchasing Varied Building Supplies From A Single Vendor
With the current building boon in Texas, there is a great need for two seemingly unrelated products. The first, which is a temporary need during the building process, is for scaffolding. The second, which becomes an integral component of the structure, is insulation. In SanAntonio scaffolding of many types can be found. SanAntonio Insulation is also easily found in many varieties. As you, the builder, search for vendors of these products, the process becomes much easier if you can purchase all of your materials from a single vendor.
Scaffolding is needed when work must be completed at a level higher than a person standing on the ground can reach. A ladder can be used to reach higher levels, but a ladder is inefficient. Its biggest dodwnside is the small area that can be reached from a ladder. The horizontal distance that can be reached is limited by the armspan of the worker and the width of the ladder. When this area is completed, the worker must get down and move the ladder. The vertical distance that can be reached is limited by the height of the safe area of the ladder and the height of the worker.
A scaffold built around the full work area is much more efficient because it allows the worker to move easily from one area to another, without having to waste time moving the ladder. The other consideration is even more important. That consideration is the safety factor. The danger of ladder use is common knowledge. Uncounted numbers of people have been seriously injured and even died as a result of falls from a ladder. The metal ladder has the added danger of electrocution when the ladder comes in contact with a live electrical line.
In contrast, instead of being a construction tool, insulation becomes an integral part of the finished building. The insulation in a finished building is hidden but important for two reasons. It fulfills its purpose by acting as a barrier to the weather. In winter, it keeps the warmth in and the frigid temperatures out. In summer, the reverse is true. Keeping the indoor environment at a steady temperature is important to the comfort of the occupants of the building. With the very narrow range of temperatures at which most people are comfortable, a constant temperature is important. Comfortable people can keep their minds on their tasks instead of fretting about the temperature of the room. An even temperature is also essential for cost and environmental reasons. When the cold or warm air cannot get in the heating/cooling system can run less. The result is lower heating/cooling bills and a smaller carbon footprint for the building.
Earlier I said these two products are seemingly unrelated. What ties these products together? I see two small ties. First, both products are used in the construction of a large structure. Second, a vendor of building materials with a full line of products will offer these two products. The job of the purchaser is simplified when a variety of products is available from a single source. And the builder and the vendor can have a closer, more productive relationship.
Connor R. Sullivan recently studied the work of a San Antonio scaffolding company when he went out for bids on a new project. He worked with a San Antonio insulation firm as new techniques are sought for the energy crisis.
