If there were ever “high standards,” as one previous review states, that has certainly changed. In 2018, Bethany Center rates 1 (yes, one) star on Medicare.gov site and POOR on the US News Advocacy site. For good reason, sorry to say… We experienced a lackadaisical quality of care, non-informative front desk and no supervisors or case managers/social workers/liasons. Nice enough staff, some earnestly trying to push against a tough environment while others were disorganized and too often inattentive–Hospice patients and folks who can’t communicate or get out of bed MUST have an active advocate involved to make sure they get washed, turned, and receive delivery of basic care and medical orders which the staff will not consistently deliver unless followed-up on. Meds will not be given in a timely manner either.
This care center works with contracts from local for-profit agencies such as Innovage –If you must place a person at Bethany Center, do everything you can to can to establish a decent relationship with each daily nurse/caregiver on each shift because otherwise, substandard care seems a likely outcome. Some nursing staff are caring and responsive although over-whelmed–others are under-supervised, under-trained, and need guidance. Shame on the for-profit ownership–the employees and our elderly Americans deserve much much better than this.
