Dr. Kenneth P. Sun

Dr. Kenneth has been accused of prescribing painkiller 50 times stronger than heroin.
He is a Phillipsburg physician who inappropriately prescribed several patients a painkiller 50 times stronger than the drug heroin, which would put them at risk of addiction and death.
The license of Dr. Kenneth P. Sun has been suspended and could be removed permanently. This would make him the third doctor in New Jersey to face the music for prescribing an oral spray which is used by cancer patients. They build up a tolerance to other painkillers.
“Doctor Sun’s actions demonstrate a serious lapse in judgment and indifference to his patients’ health, which is not fit from a doctor’s point of view.
Records show that Sun’s medical license had been suspended effectively back on December 30th.
Sun also agreed to the temporary suspension by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, the attorney general’s office said. If the allegations are proven, he could also face further suspension or revocating of his license.
Subsys is not recommended for consumption by non-cancer patients because it can risk to addiction or death. As an oral spray, Subsys delivers the powerful painkiller fentanyl to the body, which is 100 times more potent than morphine.
Another doctor’s license was temporarily suspended after she prescribed Subsys to three patients, out of which one died.
“We will do everything within our regulatory power to stop irresponsible physicians from exposing patients to grave danger or death by indiscriminately prescribing them these highly-restricted drugs,” Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino said.
