Dr. Michael DiPietro DMD

Beware of Dr. Michael DiPietro! His service is faulty, and he runs a completely fraudulent business! He is a surgeon who claims expertise in oral surgery, with over 40 years of experience. These very figures convinced me that I should consult him when I developed a severe toothache on the left side of my mouth. This had happened to me about five times before, and I had consulted several doctors and surgeons on the matter. However, the pain kept coming back.

It was a friend of mine who suggested Dr. DiPietro to me. She had consulted him a few months earlier with an infected molar, and he had taken care of the problem so well. Encouraged, I fixed an appointment at his office. Since he had been booked full for an entire week, the receptionist fixed my appointment for the next week and asked me to provide my insurance details. After a week, the doctor attended to me, and he was very good with the procedure. But I ran into problems at the billing desk. First of all, I found out that the receptionist had not contacted my insurance agency and hence I was required to make a full payment upfront. Thankfully, I had anticipated this, and I decided to pay the full money, which came up to around $120. Then they bought out a contract, stating that I would pay the full amount the next time I visited the clinic as well. I realized this was a cheap trick to fool me. This was a balance billing contract, stating that I was liable to pay the entire amount that my insurance did not cover. All this, after not contacting my agency in the first place. I refused to sign the contract and asked them to please contact my insurance agency. They didn’t, calculated a new total and asked me to pay $35 as copay and $60 as deductible.

I paid the amount, went back home and contacted my insurance agent. Guess what! It turns out that they had paid the total $120 and the clinic had not even informed me of this. So now they owed me money back. I called them up immediately and informed them of this mishap. But turns out that this time, they had nothing but a blind ear to give me. After pestering them a lot about it, they asked me to call them back in the afternoon. And then, they asked me to call them after two days. Two days later, they told me that a refund was not possible. I told them that my husband worked with the police and that I had plans for filing a complaint about this. And it was only then that they finally told me that they would try to work something out.

The next day, I woke up and had severe blinding pain in the left side of my mouth again. I called up the clinic this time, and they told me that I could have an appointment within an hour. They also informed me that I would not have to pay any extra money either since my expenses were already covered. Relieved that they were making amends, I went to the clinic. But I was still angry with Dr. DiPietro because it had been his negligence that had caused this pain just three days after the procedure.

I went to him, explained my condition completely, and he told me that I would have to pay for the anesthesia again. But this was not fair. It was complete negligence on his part that had caused the problem and not anything from my end. But he completely refused. He kept arguing me with me, and I was angry with the people who had recommended me to this doctor. Who would dare to haggle with a patient like that? He finally started the procedure. The anesthesia had not set in yet, and he angrily poked at my gums with his needles. I started screaming in severe pain, and I tell you, I saw all seven hells in that instant. It hurt that much. All my life, I had been to several doctors, and nobody had started a procedure on me without making sure that I was completely numb. Alarmed at my reaction, he paused the procedure. I was in no position to continue the procedure then. He asked me to wait for sometime so that I would be completely numb. I did as I was instructed. But I felt like this had been done because he had some vengeance towards me.

Anyway, I got my next shock when I went to pay my bill. Not only did they not adjust the money as they had promised, but they also charged me extra for the anesthesia. I was furious this time. But I was in no position to argue because of the incident that I had had with the doctor. I just paid the money and told them that I was never going to come there for consultation again. Once I was back home, I called them up demanding an explanation. But they pretended that they were not aware of the details of my case. I talked to my husband regarding this. And he told me that since I had kept all the bills intact, I should approach a lawyer. I have taken his advice and have contacted one as well. Discussions are still going on about this matter.

After that, I have been extra cautious when visiting a doctor for the first time. Not only do I do very rigorous research before the actual consultation but I also make sure that I talk to a lot of people. And this has indeed been very helpful. Even today, I know a lot of people who speak highly of Dr. DiPietro. But friends, please do not ever go there. The service is extremely bad, and they have a highly inefficient billing system to top it all off. After my repeated experiences, I have learned my lesson.
