Dr. Nedra Dodds

A metro Atlanta doctor has been ordered to stop practicing and is put under investigation following the deaths of two individuals at her Kennesaw med spa.
Dr. Nedra Dodds had been facing investigation by CBS46 News since seven months. She has been reported on accusations of misconduct.
Dodds’ license was suspended by the State Medical Board on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. The board stated that they find Dodd’s continued practice of medicine will pose a threat to the public’s health and safety, and imperatively requires emergency action. They suspended her license to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
CBS46 News was told by an employee at Opulence Aesthetic Medicine in Kennesaw, on Monday that Dodds was out sick. The employee also said that she was unaware of Dodds’ license being suspended.
Dodds had performed liposuction on April Jenkins over a year ago, which led to her death.
The medical examiner had later found a perforation in Jenkins’ diaphragm, and multiple punctures done on her liver.
Hal Jenkins, April Jenkins’ father, said that he couldn’t believe or understand how a professional would let something like that happen to her.
Another female, Erica Beaubrun, died during her buttocks reduction surgery, performed by Dodds, four months after April Jenkins’ death.
According to medical records, first responders found that she was lying in a pool of blood. Another fact was that she was in a state of cardiac arrest for 22 minutes before ambulance was called.
Beaubrun’s mother, Elsie Albert, asked anxiously that why did it take them so long to respond? Even a minute is crucial when someone’s life is endangered. A life can either be saved or lost in that time.
Dodds however said that he could understand the parents’ pain but practically, those were not the exact facts.
Hearing about the board’s action, Hal Jenkins responded and told CBS46 News, that he’s glad that they took action, but it should have been done quite earlier.
Albert said that the decision was made too late for her daughter but probably it would save someone else’s life.q
