Eye Appeal Optical

I believe the Eye Appeal Optical’s service has really gone downhill over the years. Over the last two years I had a hard time getting an appointment with the doctor when I had some issues with my eyes/contacts, but eventually made something work after numerous calls to the office. I think the doctor is still good, but the reason I am revising my review to one star is mainly due to the poor service and a situation that happened this week, which was the last straw.

I’ve been traveling an awful lot for work / family and while I moved to San Francisco earlier in the year, I still fly to Chicago for my doctor appointments (i.e., doctor, dentist, and eye doctor). I recently booked a flight to Chicago so that I could make appointments with my doctors in December, but I soon realized I only had five daily contacts left a few days ago. I don’t have a pair of glasses because I lost them and I don’t have any other contacts I could use. Without contacts, I cannot see.

So naturally, I reordered 2 boxes of daily contacts (one per eye) to hold me over until I could make it into the office in December. Luckily, I had placed the order and Walgreens (who I order my contacts from because it’s more convenient…and cheaper) and they guaranteed that I’d have my contacts in 4 days–phew, that was close!!

I was not so lucky. Eye Appeal denied my refill because I was almost (but not quite) due for an annual exam and they didn’t bother calling me to tell me this or to ask me if I wanted to make an appointment. I checked online at Walgreens two days later to see if my contacts would be arriving on time and saw that my claim was DENIED. I immediately called the office Thursday evening and left a message, expressing my concern because I only had a few daily contacts left and that I had a lot of travel coming up and really needed contacts–I have to travel to two cities in the US and one in the UK in the next few weeks before I can make it in for an appointment in December.

I have to drive in these cities and I need to see. Can you imagine having to drive in the UK on the opposite side of the car, on the opposite side of the road, through crazy roundabouts all while you CANNOT SEE? Needless to say, EYE APPEAL DID NOT CALL ME BACK, THEY DID NOT CARE. I consider this absolutely horrid service. I will never recommend this place to anyone else, nor will I give them the time of day.
