In December 2017, I Googled the telephone number for Google Customer Service and called 1 866 550 0710. I believed I was talking to someone from Google technical support. The man answered my question and then said he noticed that someone from Mexico and someone from Germany was trying to hack into my iPad. Of course, in retrospect, I should have checked with Apple to see if I needed some kind of extra protection from hackers ( I found out later I DON’T) but I believed him and paid $532.83 for what they called Platinum Secrity Lifetime. Between December and May I called a couple of times and the issues I had were resolved. However, Friday, May 11 I received a call saying that they had noticed an alarming security breach. People from New Mexico and Germany were attempting to hack into my computer and so far were 87% successful. In order to prevent this I needed to purchase more security, $500 for 2 years or $1900 lifetime. I then suspected this was a scam. Apparently, Google has no customer service telephone number so the number you get when you try to find it is a bogus number directly connecting you to these scammers.
