On Dec. 8, I called the number (1-888-480-8724) listed on my phone bill to complain about the charges from American Telecom and Roman LD (reference number 1189680). I asked to have these companies removed from my bill. The person I spoke with said she would put in a cancellation notice for me. On my next bill (billing date 12/23/15 – 1/22/16) charges again showed up on my bill. I called the number on the bill (the same number) and Bethany said it was in my file that this account was cancelled but to ensure that it was taken care of, I should call the companys individually. She gave me the numbers and I called each one.Roman LD – I called them (1-888-227-2759) on 1/15/2016 and spoke with Rose. She said she did not receive the cancellation notice until Jan 4. I asked that the account be cancelled again. She said she would take care of it but I should have called them first. I told her that the only number on my bill was for USBI. She told me I was wrong and their number was on the bill. I read to her exactly what was on the bill and she still says their number is on it. i gave her the reference number that USBI gave me to give to Roman LD to reference the cancellation call and Rose said it was not one of their numbers and she didn’t know what I was talking about. I told her I was reporting Roman LD, USBI and American Telecom to the BBB.I immediately called USBI and asked to talk to a manager. I spoke with Mason the department manager. i told him that Roman LD did not get the cancellation notice until 1/4/2016 and that they told me I was to call them first not USBI. I explained that the only phone number to call on the bill was USBI and that his staff told me that my cancellation notice was taken care of. He said that Roman LD was lying to me and that they did send in the cancellation notice. He gave me a reference number for today’s call (#*******).I called American Telecom (800-961-4245) on 1/18/2016 and spoke with Katrina. She said they have not received a cancellation notice but would cancel my account right then. She also said that I should have called their company to cancel and not USBI. I told her that the only number on the bill was USBI’s number and she said that I was mistaken and their number was on my bill. I read her what was on the bill and she said if I looked hard enough, I would see it. I asked for a confirmation number to ensure that my account had been cancelled. The number is ******. I asked how many more charges will I get from them on this account. She told me she could not tell me because she could not see my account, but it could take a couple of months to clear the account.I called USBI (1/18/2106) to see what charges are pending and the woman I spoke with said she could not tell me because they have not received the latest charges.I am getting the run-a-round from these three companies and I am trying to clear up this mistake. The people who called to get me to change my account from AT&T gave me a high pressure sales pitch and told me I would loose my long distance if I didn’t make a change immediately. I fell for the scam and now I can’t get it cleared up.
