V tech Review

A company called VTech left a message on my mothers phone that a charge of $399 to renew antivirus service for her computer would be charged to her checking account. Said if did not want to renew this service to call them back at (408)8188570 within 48 hrs to cancel. This message was left by "Joseph Smith" customer relationship manager. I returned call got no answer and left message. "Joseph Smith" did call back within 10 minutes. "Joseph" continued to argue that my mom had a computer with their antivirus service that had been renewed and if wanted it cancelled to get on her computer and he would tell me how to go about cancelling credit back the $399 charge.I asked how he would know my mom had a computer (which she does not… she is 88 yrs old and has never had one) and he said because of the serial numbers and other info they receive from the store purchased from info they can get from the FCC. After I told him my mom did not have a computer he continued to argue that she did. So I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said because of my tone of voice I was not allowed to speak to a supervisor. I asked how he would charge my moms bank account without having her acct info. He then proceeded to tell me the charge had already been taken out of her banking acct and to have it credited back she would have to cancel within 48 hrs. ( Funny…earlier he said she had 48 hrs to cancel otherwise her checking acct would be charged.) I questioned him many times about the legitimacy of the phone call and most scammers would hang up but he stayed on the defensive and continued to argue. He gave me another name "Ryan Johnson" to callat (231) 8289311 between 8-4 California time to cancel service and said please have your computer. Needless to say NOT calling any of these losers back!
