Windows ? Review

A few years ago I received a message on my pc that a virus was present and to contact a telephone number to get help. I did this and paid for them to fix my pc however after that happened I began getting all kind of spam and strange emails. I just stopped using my pc. Today I received a call from 515-238-6713 supposed to be in Iowa. The person calling was very difficult to understand with a foreign accent. He said he was from Windows and the company I had paid for virus protection was going out of business and they were going to refund what I had paid. To do this he needed for me to power up my computer and give him some information. During the conversation he said he was not in the country; but the telephone number indicated he was in Iowa. This is a scam to get more money or information from victims.
